Obituary of Estelle L. Mazzola
Estelle Fichera Mazzola, 73, of Monroe Township, NJ, passed away Monday morning surrounded by her loved ones. Beloved wife, mother, and sister, Estelle was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, a graduate of St. Catherine’s of Alexandria Elementary and New Utrecht High School. Estelle began her career in the steno pool on Wall Street and rose through the ranks eventually becoming a Vice President at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette. In 1987, she married her husband, Joseph, and in 1988, the two moved to Staten Island to start their family. In 2002, the Mazzolas moved to Anthem, Arizona where Estelle worked as a paraprofessional, helping teens and adults with special needs learn life skills. In her later years, Estelle and Joseph retired to Monroe Township.
In her spare time, Estelle could be found cooking large Italian meals, collecting Precious Moments figurines, making ceramics, taking walks with friends, and attending social events at Clearbrook. To relax, she enjoyed following the trials and tribulations on “Days of Our Lives,” watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and reading Danielle Steele novels.
Estelle is survived by her husband of 37 years, Joseph; her son Joseph (and his partner Jeffrey); her daughter Jessica; her four siblings: Mary Scibetti, John Fichera (and his wife, Sheila), Paul Fichera (and his wife, Barbara), and JoAnn Svoboda; and a large extended family. In her final days, Estelle was lovingly and expertly cared for by her husband, Joseph; sister, JoAnn; and sister-in-law, Clorinda Mennella; plus additional family and friends.
