Obituary of Leona Pascarella

Leona M. Pascarella, 85, of Jackson passed away peacefully at Leisure Park, Lakewood on Saturday, April 19, 2014. Leona was born in Quincy, MA and was raised and had lived on Staten Island before moving to Howell in 1955 to raise her family. She had lived in Howell for twenty-six years until moving to Meadowbrook Village, Jackson. As an adoring fan of Bing Crosby, Leona served as President of his fan club, published the Bingnites Bugle; and also appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. Working for Acme Markets for twenty-four years, she retired as the head cashier and office manager of the Princeton Junction store in 1988. Leona served as President of the Meadowbrook Coop Homeowners Association from 1987 to 1998. She was a communicant of St. Monica's Catholic Church, Jackson. Leona was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Pascarella; a son, Jeffrey Pascarella; and three brothers, Harlan, Walter, and Jack Burnside. She is survived by three sons, Thomas Pascarella and his wife, Sandy of Freehold Twp., David Pascarella and his wife, Claudia of Bridgewater, VA, and Stephen Pascarella of Red Bank; six grandchildren, Brian Pascarella of Freehold, Michael Pascarella and his wife, Suzy of Cherry Hill, Katie Mason and her husband, Russ of Maryville, PA, Laura Abdel and her husband, Osama of Washington, DC, Leona Pascarella and Mickey of Mount Holly, and Jeffery Pascarella of Red Bank; and a great grandson, Luca. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 with her funeral service to follow 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, contribution in memory of Leona may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
