Obituary of Joseph Alvino

Joseph Alvino, 86, of Freehold passed away at CentraState Medical Center on Friday, March 21, 2014. Joseph was born in Brooklyn and was a lifelong resident until moving to the Villages, Freehold in 1996. As a U.S. Navy Veteran, Joseph served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and in the Korean War. He retired from the Building Services Local 32B after 15 years as a doorman at the Excelsior, NYC. Joseph was an active member of the Villages Community and was a diehard Yankees fan. He was an amazing cook but most of all he was a dotting husband, loving father, and adoring Poppa. Joseph was predeceased by his son, Scott; a sister, Eleanor Danulat; and three brothers, Christopher Alvino, Armand Alvino, and James Pazienza. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Alvino; a son, Richard Alvino and his wife, Jody of Holmdel; three grandchildren, Jessica, Scott, and Erik; a sister, Carmel Kirkpatrick of Long Island; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. A visitation will be held at the Clatyon & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Service at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 with the Rev. James Devlin officiating.
