Obituary of Alfred Nobile

ALFRED R. NOBILE, 82, of MILLSTONE TOWNSHIP, died Friday, Feb. 22, at home. Mr. Nobile was born in the Dongan Hills section of Staten Island and lived there before moving to Millstone Township in 1995. Mr. Nobile was a seaman first class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served aboard the LCT 810 during the Invasion of Normandy at Utah Beach and also on the USS Portsmouth CL102 in the European Theater. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He also attended the reunions for the USS Portsmouth. Mr. Nobile was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Perrineville. He was a plant supervisor for A.G. Ship Maintenance Corp., Newark, for more than 30 years, retiring in 2006. He was predeceased by three brothers, Dominick, Mario and Anthony. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Marie Nobile; two daughters, Debra Nobile and her husband Vincent Catanzaro of Freehold Township, and Denise Nobile-Schrank and her husband Michael Schrank of Millstone Township; and four grandchildren, Jaime, Jason, Jesse and Jake. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal, followed by his 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 91 Stillhouse Road, Perrineville. Entombment will follow in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro.
