Obituary of Eleanor Scott

Eleanor Scott, 83 of Freehold, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Eleanor was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and had lived in Philadelphia, East Brunswick and Champaign, Illinois, before settling to Freehold Township in 1991. She was a homemaker and also worked at the East Brunswick High School and at the University of Illinois. Eleanor was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring mommom. Eleanor was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and William Maharty. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frederick David Scott; two daughters, Kimberley Lanouette and her husband, Roger of Pennington and Venessa Rittman and her husband, Scott of Mountainside; a son; ten grandchildren; a brother, Donald Maharty of Virginia; and two sisters, Mildred Eckenrode of Arizona and Dorothy Evans of Wilkes-Barre, PA. A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM with her funeral service to follow at 8:30 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 9:30 AM for the procession to Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, for her 10:30 AM Committal Service. Shiva will be observed at the Rittman residence on Sunday, August 25, 2013 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.
