Obituary of Ann Russo
Ann Russo, 89, of Howell Township passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. She was born and raised at 117 Mott Street in the Little Italy section of Manhattan. Once married, Ann and her husband, John moved to Kew Gardens in Queens and then to West Keansburg in 1966, where she raised her family. She settled in Howell in 2014 in Pine View Estates and for the last ten years made some truly amazing friendships. She was a Lunch Lady for 40 years at Lillian Drive School in Hazlet until her retirement in 2010. Ann was devoted to her faith and was a parishioner of St. William the Abbot, Howell and a former parishioner of The Church of St. Ann, Keansburg. She was a loving mother and wife, a cherished grandmother, a treasured friend, and wholeheartedly dedicated herself to nurturing her family and relationships.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Russo; brothers, Pasquale “Sonny” Mongiello, Louis “Louie” Mongiello, and Vincenzo “Junie” Mongiello; and a sister, Lucrezia Mongiello. Ann is survived by her children, Tom Russo and his wife, Donna of Howell, Vinny Russo and his wife, Carol of Howell, and John Russo and his wife, Kathy of Manasquan; grandchildren, Brittany Russo, Rachel Russo and her fiancé, Justin Cagnassola, Danielle Russo, Nicole Russo, Casey Russo, John Russo and his fiancé, MegHa Banerjee, Brian Russo, and Devon Russo; and many dear friends.
A memorial gathering will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM with a memorial service to begin at 7:30 PM with the Rev. Thomas Maher, Pastor of St. William the Abbot. Inurnment will be with her husband and brother, Pasquale and will take place at the convenience of the family in Brigadier General William C.
