Obituary of James Anthony Tarabocchia
James Anthony Tarabocchia, 55, of Howell Township passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 28, 2024. James was born in Teaneck, grew up in Ridgefield, and lived in River Edge before making his home in Howell in 2004. A graduate of Don Bosco Preparatory High School, James went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from St. Peter's University in Jersey City. Since 2002, James was a dedicated and proud member of the International Longshoremen’s Association, Local 1, working as a checker at the Port Newark Container Terminal until his retirement in 2024
James was a man of faith and a parishioner at the Church of St. Veronica in Howell. He enjoyed golfing and had a passion for photography, especially capturing sports and landscapes. He was a big supporter of his sons’ sports teams, always there to cheer them on at their golfing, rowing, and lacrosse events. As a devoted fan, he captured their moments on film. James loved spending time on his boat, from crabbing in the river, fishing for striped bass, to long tuna trips while making memories with his family and friends. He was also a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved watching the games with his boys.
For James, his time spent with family and friends, traveling, and taking vacations held deep meaning. Above all, he was a loving husband, a devoted father, a caring son, brother, uncle, and a loyal friend. These relationships are his true legacy.
James is survived by his wife of 31 years, Angie; three sons, Brandon, Matthew, and Jack; parents, John and Maria; sister, Katherina Tarabocchia; in-laws, Severino and Maria Salamon; sister-in-law, Christine Hroncic and her husband, Nick; and his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
