Obituary of Josephine Coviello

Josephine Coviello, 96, of Howell Township passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at her residence. Originally from Brooklyn's Red Hook neighborhood, Josephine eventually settled in Bensonhurst, where she created a warm and welcoming home for her family. Her hard work and caring nature were evident in everything she did. Josephine, a devoted homemaker, was the epitome of a loving mother, wife, and friend. She was the matriarch of her family and always provided the best advice to those around her. Josephine would eagerly anticipate family gatherings, cherishing the time spent with her loved ones.

She was predeceased by husband, Leonard Coviello; and her nine siblings. Josephine is survived by her three children, Louise Sandoli and her husband, Louis of Old Bridge, Jean Tesoriero and her husband, Anthony of Old Bridge and Lenny Coviello and his wife, Nancy of Freehold; seven grandchildren, Jenna Cahill and her husband, Dennis, Anthony Tesoriero and his wife, Erin, Emily Owens and her husband, Chris, Nicole McAllister and her husband, Sean, Chris Sandoli, Lenny Coviello and Alexandra Coviello; six great grandchildren, Lorelai, Joseph, Nevada, Nico, Layla and Grace; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.   Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Avenue, Staten Island.  For those who desire, memorial contributions in memory of Josephine may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Alzheimer’s New Jersey.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
