Obituary of Teddy Moniodes

Teddy Moniodes, 90, of Freehold passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on Sunday, March 17, 2013. Teddy was born, raised and had lived in Brooklyn, NY and the Jackson area before settling to Freehold in 2007. He was a US Army veteran during World War II serving in the European Theater. Teddy graduated college with a degree in business and worked in the NYC Hotel industry his whole life. He retired as the paymaster for the St. Regis Sheraton in 1988. Teddy was a member of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, Toms River. Also known as "Teddy Bear", he enjoyed life and everyone loved him. Teddy had a warm heart for all and was an animal lover. He was also a loyal NY Giants fan. Teddy was predeceased by his sister, Tessie Solomos. He is survived by a son, John Moniodes and his wife, Julia of Little Egg Harbor; two daughters, Jacqueline Abramaitis and her husband, Joe of Maspeth, NY and Joan Ross and her husband, David of Freehold; six granddaughters, Jill and her husband, Lou, Julie and her husband, Joe, Jessica, Jennifer, Heather, and Courtney; two great granddaughters, Jaiden and Leia ; two brothers, Mono and his wife, Emily and Paul and his wife, Sophie, both of Long Island; many nieces, nephews, and friends; his longtime aide, Doreen; and his faithful canine companion, Coco. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friend are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Service at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 2200 Church Road, Toms River. Interment to follow in Brig. Gen. W. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Teddy may be made to AIM at Melanoma, 3217 Bob O Link Court, Plano, TX 75093.
