Obituary of Adele Florence "Gugu" Stein

Adele Florence “Gugu” Stein, 91, of Brooklyn, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Jersey Shore Medical Center. Adele was born, raised and spent her life in Brooklyn.  She worked as a secretary for the legal department for the state of New York for some time, but loved being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Most importantly, Adele relished her time as “Gugu” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved her time with her family.

Adele was predeceased by her husband Ralph Stein; brother, Norman Wine; and sister, Rita Wine. She is survived by her daughter, Beth Valentine and her husband, Peter of Freehold; son Alan Stein and his wife Gretchen of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Darin Valentine and his wife, Megan, Erin Phelps, and Hannah Stein; and five great-grandchildren, Raegan, Jake, Ryan, Justin, and Rosalie.

Adele’s funeral service will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM, followed by the burial at Mount Sinai Cemetery, 374 Highway 79, Morganville.  For information, directions or to leave condolence messages for the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
