Obituary of Paul J. Sisk

Paul J. Sisk of Lewes, Delaware died unexpectedly on Friday, November 24, 2023 surrounded by his cherished family and friends. Paul was born on October 1, 1967, and spent his early life in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Paul was adored by his parents and siblings, who lovingly called him "Mule Head" (Muley for short) due to his intense determination, which was present from birth and grew only stronger through the years. Paul had a very happy childhood with his brothers and sisters and his best friend Terence, and he often recounted humorous tales of his mad breakdancing skills, his stylish wardrobe of Z-Cavaricci jeans and white Capezio shoes, and his early work as a paperboy and deli meat slicer so he could buy name-brand sneakers instead of having to wear the grocery store variety that his father insisted were perfectly adequate. 

Paul was happiest when he had a project to work on. He could fix absolutely anything, which proved vital in their household of eight children that his father jokingly referred to as the "U.S. Testing Ground". Without any formal training (aside from the occasional YouTube video), Paul was a one-man “carpenter, carpet layer, deck builder, electrician, home renovator, plumber, tile installer” and more - and that was only on the weekends! He was also a brilliant computer technician, building machines from the ground up from a very young age, and working in the information technology field for the last 20 years. One of the best things about Paul was his sincere desire to share his many talents with anyone and everyone who ever needed his help.

Thanks to a serendipitous introduction by Terence, Paul met the love of his life Chris in 1996 at The Big Apple Sports Bar in Bayonne. Although Paul did not drink and Chris was slightly suspicious of a guy sitting in a sports bar who did not drink, he quickly gained her trust with his warm smile, clever wit, and kind heart. They married in 1999 and lived in Bayonne, Middletown, and Freehold, New Jersey and recently moved to Lewes, Delaware to begin their next chapter.

Paul's ardent passion was his family. He was a truly loving father. As step-father to Brittany since she was eight years old, he took great pride in having bestowed her with his strength and confidence by "osmosis" rather than genetics. When he learned that his son Paul was on the way, he was over the moon, enthusiastically sharing the wonderful news with any random passerby who would listen, and proceeding to sing Paul Anka's "You're Having My Baby" for the next nine months. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his son grow into a wonderful young man. He could not have cherished his children any more and was delighted to become adoring "Brampa" to Everly, his baby girl. Paul somewhat liked the family dog Roxy, but often pretended not to.  

Paul was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joseph and Helen (nee Harmer). He is survived by his loving wife Christine McCrary Sisk, daughter Brittany Fessler (Matt), son Paul, granddaughter Everly Fessler, and siblings Glen, Donna, Denise (Tommy Farley), Joey (Kim), Dawn (Rich Kiczek), Cathy (Phil DeTommaso), and Bobby (Jill Kochanski). He will be loved endlessly by his family, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and many friends.

The indelible mark of Paul's generous spirit, his joyful demeanor, and the echoes of his hearty laughter will be forever cherished and remembered as the pillars of the loving home he built and the family he nurtured through his last moments. His legacy will continue to inspire acts of kindness and the courage to face life's challenges with a steadfast heart, guiding us all by the light of his unwavering love and strength.
