Obituary of Robert L. Johnsen

Robert “Bobby” Leonard Johnsen, 71, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Excelcare at Manalapan.  He was born on October 21, 1952, in Staten Island to Dorothy Fisher Johnsen and Carl Johnsen.  Bobby was the youngest of three boys; his older brothers, Carl and Richard, loved him dearly.  Bobby grew up in the Markum Homes, Port Richmond, and Stapleton Apartments in Stapleton, Staten Island. He attended PS18, PS14, Dreyfus Junior High, and Curtis High School. 

Bobby took good care of his mom and watched after her always.  He attended Fordham University where he earned a bachelor’s degree and went on to graduate from St. John’s University Law and pass the bar exam in the top 15 percent of his class. Bobby found his calling in law enforcement; he served as a DOT Federal Agent for 25 years until his retirement.

Bobby had a real passion for scenic photography and vinyl records; he proudly amassed a sizable multi genre album collection over the years.  He also enjoyed all sports; his favorite teams were the New York Yankees and NY Giants.

Bobby is predeceased by his brother, Richard.  He is survived by his brother, Carl and three nieces and four nephews. 

Visitation for Bobby will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM at Clayton and McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township.  His funeral service will immediately follow at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.  A graveside service for Bobby will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Bay View Cemetery, 321 Garfield Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07305.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 2310 Route 34, Suite 1D, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
