Obituary of Esther A. Niman

Esther Alexandra Niman, 95, passed away on March 17, 2023, at Atlantic Coast Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. She was born in Detroit, MI and lived in Antioch and Syria most of her childhood. Esther moved to Brooklyn, NY and finally settled in Jackson, NJ.

Esther was predeceased by her parents, Mariana and Nazeer Niman; sisters, Lila and Jemeliah; brothers, Fred, John, and Nabil; and nephew, Nabil Paul. She is survived by her sister, Anna Mudalel; nieces, Denise, Laura, Charlene, and Christine; nephews, Allen, Eric, and John; great nephews, Nicholas, Matthew, and Andrew; and one great-great niece, Chloe Grace.

Esther worked for Chase Bank in Brooklyn, NY as a translator of many languages. She also worked for the Red Cross. After retirement, Esther continued to work at Six Flags in Jackson, NJ

Esther was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church and Syrian Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn. She adored children, teaching and praying with them over the years. Esther’s other hobbies included crafting, painting, and traveling.

Pannyhida will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 6:00 PM at St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 200 Alexander Avenue, Howell, NJ. Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral service on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Alexander Nevsky Russian Orthodox Cathedral.  Interment at St. Vladimir Cemetery, 316 Cassville Road, Jackson, NJ will follow.
