Obituary of John D. Bamonte Jr.

John D. Bamonte, Jr., 79, of Lakewood passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus, Lakewood.  John was born and raised in Brooklyn.  He lived in Northport, Long Island, Queens, and in the Great Kills section of Staten Island before moving to Howell Township, NJ to raise his family.  John then lived in Port St. Lucie, FL before returning to New Jersey.  In 2016, He then moved to the Four Seasons in Lakewood.  John was a graduate of Pace University and had studied at Oxford.  He retired in 1994 as the 2nd Vice President of the Auditing Department for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City.  In retirement, John consulted as an auditor for Merck Pharmaceuticals.  With a passion for the shore, you could always find him at the Arcade, in Point Pleasant.  He cherished his time crabbing and spending time admiring light houses and collecting them.  John was a former coach for North Howell Little League and was a member of the 4-H Club, Freehold.  He was a constant volunteer, he gave his time at Brandywine Assisted Living in Howell.  He loved to volunteer with Linda at the Grunin Center for the Arts at Ocean County Community College. Most recently at the Four Seasons at Lakewood, John played Bocce ball and was a member of the Garden and Rock n’ Roll Clubs.  John’s favorite sports team was the New York Yankees, he enjoyed taking his grandchildren to see the games.

John was predeceased by his 1st wife, Carol A. Bamonte in 2013.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Bamonte of Lakewood; a daughter, Valerie Lozito and her husband, James of Howell; two sons, Marc Bamonte and his wife, April of Howell and Ralph Bamonte and his wife, Natalie of Howell; two stepchildren, Christina Torres of Brick and Steven Cassidy and his wife, Amy of Little Egg Harbor; seven grandchildren, Erika Bamonte and her husband, Dave Castaldo, Ashley Pagnotta and her husband, Joe, Anthony Lozito and his fiancée, Alyssa Edwards, Gianna Bamonte, Ava Bamonte, Krista Kries, Kevin Kries, Andrea Brown, and Riley Cassidy; four great grandchildren, Lily, Violet, Savannah, and Aubrey; siblings, Isabel Engber of Arizona, MaryAnn Marquart of New York, and Michael Bamonte of Florida.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.
