Obituary of Theresa M. Stavola

Theresa M. Stavola, 94, of Howell passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at The Manor, Freehold. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, and had lived in Bay Ridge and Middle Village, Queens before settling to Howell in 1968. Theresa was a master cook and made the best traditional Italian foods, her specialties being egg plant parm, meatballs, and home-made sauce. Theresa took great pride in her home. She often hosted family gatherings especially during the holidays. Theresa enjoyed reading, bowling, and sports, mainly watching the New York Yankees and Giants. She was an excellent seamstress and used to sew outfits for her children.

She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent (Jim) Stavola; and daughter, Joanne Scoppettuolo. Theresa is survived by her children, Annette Hebel and her husband, Bill of Wilton, CT, Janet D’Onofrio and her husband, Louis of Cromwell, CT, and Susan Newell and her husband, Bill of Oceanport, NJ; son-in-law, Stephen Scoppettuolo of Farmingdale, NJ; grandchildren, Billy Hebel and his wife, Staci, Christopher Hebel and his wife, Yanna, Nicole Wiggins and her husband, John, Keri Wydronkowski and her husband, Cory, Matthew Newell and his fiancée, Kerrin O’Connell, and Adrienne Scoppettuolo; and great grandchildren, Jaime, Will, Riley, Lily, Cole, and Zoey.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, September 23, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A graveside service will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, One Honey Locust Drive, Lakewood at 1:30 PM.
