Obituary of Bart Bono

Bart “Buddy” Bono, 81, of Freehold passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born, raised, and had lived in Brooklyn, New York and had lived in the Great Kills section of Staten Island and Millstone Township before settling in Freehold in 2005. Buddy worked for the New York City Sanitation Department as a Supervisor for 20 years retiring in 1989. He then worked as an operating engineer for Local #94 and as a school bus driver for the J & R bus company of Howell. Buddy was a parishioner at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine in Freehold. He enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City. Buddy was also part of the Rivera Bowling League, Men’s Club and Italian- American Club.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Joan Bono (Curcio); children, Denise Dicks and her husband, Vincent of Sea Girt and John Bono of Manalapan; grandchildren, Amanda Moore and her husband, Michael of Manasquan and Andrew Dicks of New York City; great grandchildren, Juliet and Reese; and siblings, Terri Scimeca of Monroe, Richard Bono and his wife, Fran of Lake Worth, Florida, and Janice Rexer and her husband, Charles of Lake Worth, Florida.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Tuesday August 16, 2022 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Inurnment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
