Obituary of Douglas Mikula, Jr.

Doug Mikula passed from this earth at age 36 on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.  He was born and raised in Tinton Falls, NJ.  Doug graduated from Monmouth Regional HS, and attended Berklee College of Music, Boston, summer sessions, Monmouth University, and Brookdale.

He was well known and loved in the Jersey Shore & Asbury Park area for his music and guitar playing, bringing so much enjoyment to so many, always with a smile.  His love and that smile will be sorely missed.  In 2010, Doug won Best Guitarist at the Asbury Music Awards, but aside from his performance skills, he was a songwriter, teacher, and a true artist in every sense of the word.  He continues to live in two realms.  Doug is alive in heaven and his spirit is living on in our hearts on this earth

Doug is survived by the light of his life, his son Donovan Mikula, 9 years old; Donovan’s Mom, Taralynn VanBrunt; his supportive partner, Melissa Kulyeshie; parents, Doug and Julie Mikula, Sr.; his sister and her husband, Becky and Darell Harris, and their children, Alexa and Mason; and his grandmother, Betsy Mikula.  He was blessed to have had 16 aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and there are not enough volumes to list all his friends, who loved him and supported him.

A visitation will be held at Luther Memorial Church, 818 Tinton Ave, Tinton Falls, NJ 07724 on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM with his funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM.  For those who cannot attend, the funeral service will be live-streamed, HERE.  Interment will be private.
