Obituary of William M. Shave

William M. “Bill” Shave, 75, of Farmingdale passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in Newark and raised in Cliffwood Beach before settling to Howell in 1968. Bill was passionate about our country and served as a Marine during the Vietnam War and was a two-time purple heart recipient. He was a member of the VFW Post 9691 and the American Legion. Bill enjoyed calf roping and performed at Madison Square Garden. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and the art of wood working.

He is predeceased by his parents, George and Sylvia Shave. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Linda Shave of Farmingdale; two daughters, Tracy Dill of Howell and Wendy Johnson and her husband, Joseph of Jackson; two grandchildren, Eric Dill and Victoria Johnson; siblings, George Shave and his wife, Kathleen of Tinton Falls, Madeline Fellows of Manchester, and Michael Shave and his wife, Virginia of Lakewood.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM with his funeral service to follow. Interment will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park, 4201 NJ-33, Tinton Falls, NJ 07753. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Bill to the Disabled American Veterans, Post Office Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
