Obituary of Mark Carrell

Mark D. Carrell, 43, of Buena Vista, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem, VA. Mark was born in Bloomfield, raised in Freehold Township and had lived in Florida for 10 years before returning to Freehold Township. He settled in Buena Vista with his wife, Amber in 2011. He was a 1987 graduate of Freehold Township High School, where he played baseball. Mark was on many teams in the softball leagues at Liberty Oak Park (Michael Tighe Park) in Freehold Township. He was a street hockey goalie and loved to play volleyball on the beach. Living in Raintree, he would spend time at Moore's Tavern. Mark was an accounts receivable representative in the call center at Liberty Medical, Virginia. Prior to that, he worked for the Gordon's Corner Water Company and the Freehold Township Public Works Department. Mark had regard for animals, mainly dogs but his true love was spending time with his wife, Amber and his 5 month old daughter, Sophia. Mark was predeceased by his father, Gary Carrell. He is survived by his wife, Amber Nicole Bushong Carrell of Buena Vista, VA; a daughter, Sophia Rose Carrell; his mother, Jacqueline Carrell of Howell; a brother, Jason Carrell and his fiancée, Beth Birrer of Long Branch; his godmother and aunt, Geraldine Grimaldi; cousins, aunts and uncles; and his faithful canine companions, Lady, Sable, Stanley and Roxy. Relatives and friends may gather at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. His cremation was private and he will be returning to the waters of Key West. For those who desire, memorial contributions in memory of Mark may be made to a custodial account that has been established for Sophia's care.
