Obituary of Frederick H. Schmidt, III

Frederick "Skip" Schmidt III, 78, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, gracefully and peacefully accepted his passing at 6:02pm on Wednesday, August 24^th, in Denver, North Carolina. He was surrounded by his cherished and devoted loved ones.

Frederick was preceded by his son, Frederick Henry Schmidt IV, his father, Frederick Henry Schmidt, II, his mother, Mary (Rosich) Schmidt, and his brother, Walter "Babe" James Schmidt.  Frederick is survived by his wife, Nadja Schmidt, Freehold, NJ, daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Michael LaRusso, Jackson, NJ and son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Diane Schmidt, Denver, NC. He is also survived by grandchildren: Jessica Longstreet, Amanda LaRusso and Christopher LaRusso, as well as great-grandchildren: Logan Longstreet and Lilian Gordet.  

Frederick was deeply loved by his family and also loved by countless more.  He in return, loved us, but quietly, as was his upbringing.  We understood this about him and we knew the depth of his love.  Frederick was a friend to everyone he met, a samaritan, enthusiastically and without hesitation helping anyone in need - often creating lifelong friendships with those he helped.  It is in this way that our family extended far and wide.  Frederick was not just a dad or a husband or a grandfather we were proud of, but a man whom we were proud of as well.  We will miss him dearly and we look forward to the day with joyous hearts when we meet once again.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral service at St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church, 316 Cassville Road, Jackson on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow in St. Vladimir’s R.O.
