Obituary of Nancy Cammalleri

Nancy Cammalleri, nee Galesi, 90, of Freehold passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Manor in Freehold. She was born in Santa Croce Camerina, Sicily where she fell in love with her husband Vincent. They moved to Buenos Ares, Argentina in 1949 when she was twenty years old and pregnant with their daughter Silvia. Nancy immigrated to the United States in 1960 and first lived in Paterson where she worked as a sewing machine operator for 30 years. While living in Paterson she became a U.S. Citizen and in 1993 settled in Freehold. She was a wonder in the kitchen and loved to cook for her family and watch them eat. Nancy cherished all the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed Andrea Bocelli’s music as well as Telenovelas. Nancy was active in her Village community taking trips to Atlantic city and spending time with her friends and neighbors. She was the quintessential Italian mother and grandmother, always knitting and crocheting blankets, scarves, and especially layettes for babies. As the matriarch of her family, Nancy leaves behind to the generations she raised the wisdoms and traditions of the Cammalleri and Galesi Family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 43 years, Vincent Cammalleri in 1991, and her son in law, Gino Delvescovo in 2014. Nancy is survived by her children, Silvia Delvescovo of Freehold; Joseph Cammalleri and his wife, Diane of Boca Raton, Florida; and Carlo Cammalleri and his wife, Jamee Romano of West Orange; her grandchildren, Marie Valentino and her husband, Brian of Ocean Township; Nancie Colucci and her husband, Joseph of Howell; Stephanie Lampe and her husband, Daniel of Boonton; Cara Harvey and her husband, Ronald of Bensalem, Pennsylvania; Lisa Gardner and her husband, David of Hoboken; Matthew Romano of West Orange; Ginamarie Harris and her husband, Kevin of Point Pleasant; and George Delvescovo of East Hanover; great grandchildren, Emma, Grace, Joseph, Christopher, Alaina, Bret, Paul, Taylor, Dean, Arianna, Isaiah, Nathan, Jessica, Charlie, Danielle, Antonio, and Georgiana; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends in the United States, Italy, and Argentina.
