Obituary of Neil Carroll Neely

Neil Carroll Neely, 74, of Freehold passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at home.  He was born, raised and had lived in Jersey City before moving to Freehold in 1990. After being honorably discharged from the United States Navy, Neil worked as a systems tech for Verizon in Howell until his retirement in 2005. He loved to spend time on the water, especially at the South Amboy Yacht Club and was a volunteer for the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Neil was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 13 Farmingdale. Neil enjoyed ceramics, tending to his fish tanks, and photography.

Neil was predeceased by his sisters-in-law, Phyllis Mills, Eileen Littman and Alecia Reeves; and brothers-in-law, Stephen Grabley, James Dyas, , and William Littman. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen Neely of Freehold; son, Jeffrey Neely of Freehold; sister, Naomi Astorita and her husband, Paul of Jackson; sisters-in-law, Maryann Grabley, Alvina Dyas, Linda Dyas, Maddy Dyas, Janis LaBarbiera, Helen Koralja, Barbara Dyas, Lisa Dyas, and Sharon Dyas; brother-in-laws, Thomas Dyas, Dominick LaBarbiera, Edward Dyas, Steven Dyas, Joseph Croteau, Paul Astorita, Jamie Garcia, Billy Reeves, and Tommy Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:30 PM with his memorial service to follow.
