Obituary of John D. Papa

John D. Papa, 83, of Jackson, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.  John was born, raised and had lived in the Bronx.  He had lived in College Point until moving to the Westlake community in Jackson, NJ in 2005.  John retired from International Union of Elevator Constructors Local One in 2000 as an elevator mechanic with Schindler Elevator Corporation after more than 20 years of dedicated service.  Along with his wife and friends, John liked to travel.  He also enjoyed the game of golf and could always go for a nice meal, whether at the diner or a steakhouse.  He most loved being with his family and friends.

John was predeceased by his wife, Linda; brothers, Eugene and Gregory; and a sister, Maria.  He is survived by his children, Michele Mahon of Babylon, NY and Michael D. Mahon; and two grandsons, Alex and Nate.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:30 AM Funeral Mass on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at St. Fidelis Church, 123-14 14th Ave, College Point, NY 11356.  Inurnment will take place on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 2:00 PM in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle New Jersey Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.  For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required.
