Obituary of Herbert Golom

Herbert Daniel Golom, 86, of Howell Township passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at home. Herbert was born in New York and moved to Freehold. He was a graduate of Freehold High School and enlisted in the US Army/Air Corps in August 18, 1943. After being discharged, he joined his father, Joseph Golom and his brother, David Golom in their plumbing & heating business. Herbert was a construction official for Toms River for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #178 in Howell and Farmingdale and was a member of the Adelphia Fire Company for 59 years. Herbert was also a faithful member of the Elks for many years. His enjoyment was bowling, fishing, hunting, skiing and golfing. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ingrid Golom; two sons, Herbert Daniel Golom, Jr. of Farmingdale and Robert Golom and his wife, Lorrie of Wall; his grandson, JTJG Ryan Golom of the US Navy and his wife, Hanna; a brother, David S. Golom of Howell; plus assorted nephews & nieces in the area. He will be missed but not forgotten. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Friday, December 7, 2012, Interment to follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, 299 Freehold Englishtown Road, Freehold.
