Obituary of Robert Evans

Robert G. Evans, 86 of Freehold Township on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at The Manor, Freehold Township. Mr. Evans was born in New York City NY and was raised in Massachusetts. He lived in Freehold Boro and Howell Township before settling in Silvermead, Freehold Township in 1996. Mr. Evans was a graduate of the Gould Academy, Bethel, ME. Mr. Evans was a Supervisor of Patient Accounts at Marlboro State Psychiatric Hospital for 28 years. He retired in 1984 from the Central Office in Trenton as a coordinating supervisor of other various state hospitals after 5 years of service. Mr. Evans was a U.S. Army veteran serving for 7 years during World War II. He participated in the invasion of Sicily and Anzio. Mr. Evans also took part in campaigns in Casablanca, Morocco, Algeria, Oran, Africa, Tunsia, France and Germany arriving back home in 1947. He was a former Commander of American Legion Post #54, Freehold. Mr. Evans was a Quarter Master and life member of the V.F.W., Post #4374, Freehold and a member of the 40 + 8. He was an avid reader and a Civil War Buff. He also liked to travel, take cruises, and watch sports. He was predeceased by : His son, Robert M. Evans in May 2000. Surviving are: His wife of 30 years: Joan F. Dailey Evans of Freehold Township, NJ; Three Daughters; Two Grandchildren; A Great Grandson; A Daughter-in-law; A Step-daughter, Karen Drum of PA; A Step-Grandson, Gary Drum of PA; and a Brother, John Kellaher of Concord, MA.
