Obituary of Charles S. Brenner

Charles S. Brenner, 68, of New York, passed away at Staten Island University Hospital on Saturday, January 9, 2021. He was born in the Bronx and raised his family in Queens, NY, Boothbay, ME, and Central New Jersey, before moving back to New York. Chuck, as he was affectionately called, graduated from NYIT and was a chief operating engineer for IUOE Local 94 before retiring in 2015. In his spare time, Chuck would enjoy taking trips to Montauk where he would go fishing, and in his earlier years, he loved hunting. He could always be found cooking for his family and definitely knew how to appreciate a good meal. Chuck was an outgoing people-person with a great sense of humor. He could make friends with anyone and had been known to invite his acquaintances to family holidays. Above all, Chuck cherished every moment he had with his family. He will be remembered for his unfailing work ethic and his dedication to caring for his children.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carolee Brenner; and parents, Stanley and Betty Brenner. Chuck is survived by his children, Sarah Ligo and her husband, Jeffery, of Farmingdale, Shaina Brenner and her boyfriend, Jose Santiago, of Jackson, Samantha Awadallah and her husband, Ahmed, of Jackson, David Brenner of East Brunswick, and Daniel Brenner of Howell; step-children, Scott Allen of Brooklyn, Kimlee Allen of Queens; grandchildren, Aden, Jeffery, Autumn, Nathaniel, Ally, Eddie, Ben, and Calauralee; sister, Arlene Ortiz and her husband, P.J. of Belleville; and girlfriend, Maryann Keegan of Staten Island.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township, NJ 07728 on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with his funeral service to follow.
