Obituary of James Nelson Cappuzzo, Sr.

James Nelson “Jimmy” Cappuzzo, 80, of Manalapan passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.  James was born in Newark and had lived in the Ironbound section of Newark and Piscataway before moving to Manalapan.  He was a 43 year member of the International Longshoremen's Association retiring in 2004, where he worked for the Maersk Line Company, Port Elizabeth.  James proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He was a parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Manalapan. James was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #5903 and he was also a member of the Italian American Association of Monmouth County. His greatest achievement was being a Dad and a Poppy. He adored his family and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren, Jacquelyn and Jillian.

James was predeceased by his parents, Nelson and Mildred Cappuzzo; and his wife, Rachael in 2007.  He is survived by a son, James Cappuzzo and his wife, Toni Ann of Morganville; a daughter, Geralyn Rekulak and her husband, Joseph of Millstone;; four grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Paul, Jillian, and Ashley; two sisters, Bette Jean Marzella and her husband, Carmen, Joan Desiderio; a brother, Mark Cappuzzo, and his wife, Danielle; and many nieces and nephews.   

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Monday, December 28, 2020 at St. Thomas More Church, 186 Gordons Corner Road, Manalapan with his interment to follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Newark.
