Obituary of John O'Dowd

JOHN A. O'DOWD, 67, of HOWELL, died Thursday, Dec. 13, at home. Mr. O'Dowd was born in New York City and had lived in Queens and Marlboro before moving to Surrey Downs, Howell, eight years ago. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township. He received his B.A. in business from Pace University, New York City. He was a salesman for Diebold Inc., New York Office, for 13 years. Upon his retirement he became associated with Omron Inc., Manhattan, as a vice president. Surviving are his wife, Marianne O'Dowd; one son, Shawn W. O'Dowd of Rockville, Md.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Alison M. Espinosa and her husband Walter of New Providence, and Melanie A. O'Dowd of New Providence; two grandchildren, Shannon and Matthew O'Dowd; one brother, Jerome O'Dowd of Florence, Ky.; and one sister, Joan Olsen of Fort Myers, Fla. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to either the America Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury, NJ 07702, or to the VNA of Central Jersey, Hospice Unit Development Office, 176 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ 07701 and would be appreciated.
