Nancy Geschke

Obituary of Nancy Geschke

Nancy K. Geschke (Lynch), 69, of Neptune City passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Sunnyside Manor in Wall Township surrounded by her husband William “Bill” Geschke, and the facility’s caring nurses and staff.  Nancy was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Livingston.  She graduated from Mount St. Dominic Academy and Georgian Court University, and married Bill in 1973.  Proud of her Irish heritage, Nancy’s Catholic faith served as her guiding light. She was a former parishioner of St Elizabeth of Hungary Church - Parish of St. Teresa of Calcutta, Avon-By-The-Sea and Holy Innocents Church, Neptune. Nancy was employed as an Accounting Technician for the Department of the Army at Fort Monmouth, and received numerous commendations and awards before retiring in 2011 after 30 plus years of service.  A voracious reader, she cherished her time lost in a good novel.  Nancy enjoyed crafting, making gifts for family and friends, and loved to decorate her home for every holiday, especially Christmas.  She spent her leisure time traveling, bicycling, walking, baking, tending her flower gardens, and lounging at the pool.  And every Saturday in the fall she was glued to the TV, watching her beloved Notre Dame football team. But Nancy’s true love was her black labrador retriever, Zeke.

Throughout her life, Nancy shared the love and support of many friends she considered family. Especially in her final years, as she struggled with a disease that robbed her of so much, she was blessed with the companionship and outpouring of love from her Georgian Court and Fort Monmouth “families,” who remained steadfast in their commitment to their lifelong friend.  And it was Nancy’s sister-in-law, Diane Jesiolowski, whom she thought of as a sister, who prayed with her, held her hand and made her look as beautiful on the outside as she was on the inside, even when Nancy was homebound.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Helen Lynch and her beloved canine companion, Zeke.  She is survived by her husband, Bill of Neptune City; siblings, Mary Ellen Gallagher of Hackettstown, Linda Sullivan of Cotuit, Massachusetts, Debbie Diamente of Flemington; and John Lynch of Hackettstown; in-laws, Bob Gallagher, Dan Sullivan, Kate Lynch, Diane and Jerry Jesiolowski; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was a Godmother to many; and dear friend to all.
