Obituary of Mary Maureen Lynch

Mary “Maureen” Lynch, 91, of Jackson passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in County Cork, Ireland, and had lived in the Bronx, Staten Island, and Whiting, NJ, before settling in Jackson in 2016. Maureen worked as a switchboard operator for C.J. Lawrence in New York City for many years before her retirement. She loved her 7 o’clock hour and her Irish tea. Above all, Maureen was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

She was predeceased by her husband, Padraig Lynch; and brother, Jeremiah Murphy. Maureen is survived by her children, Eileen Lynch Hughes and her husband, Richard of Jackson and Timothy C. Lynch and his wife, Virginia of Staten Island, NY; four grandchildren, Patrick, Sean, Bridget, and Nora; a sister, Peggy Murphy of the Bronx, NY; a brother, John C. Murphy of East Hampton, NY; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, July 19, 2020 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM with her funeral service to follow. Relatives and friends are invited to participate via Webcast through the Funeral Home’s website at that time. Inurnment will take place on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 11:00 AM in St. Peters Cemetery, 52 Tyler Road, Staten Island, NY 10310. Donations in Maureen’s name may be made to the Steven Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306.
