Obituary of Giovanni Scrivanich

Giovanni Scrivanich, 87, of Manalapan passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, May 1, 2020.  He was born in Susak, Croatia and had moved to Santa Margherita, Italy in 1951.  Giovanni came to the United States in 1956, living in Hoboken and Palisades Park before settling in Manalapan in 1997.  He enjoyed fishing on the North Fork of Long Island with his family. He enjoyed crabbing with his granddaughter who could always put a smile on his face. He also enjoyed spending time in New York City with his wife and he wasn’t able to leave without having a hot dog. Giovanni had a great sense of humor, was a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family.

Giovanni was predeceased by his parents, Giacomo and Antonia Scrivanich and siblings, Giovanna Scrivanich and Maria Tarabocchia.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Antonia Scrivanich of Manalapan; children, Joann Markey and her husband, Jim of Manalapan and James Scrivanich and his partner, Joyce Becker of Fort Lee; granddaughter, Christine Markey; siblings, Antonia Tarabocchia of Toms River, Guido Scrivanich and his wife, Giovannina of Fort Lee, and Tony Scrivanich and his wife, Lillian of Cliffside Park; brothers and sister-in-law, Maria Piccinich and her husband, Nico of Manalapan, Dina Picinic and her husband, John of Manalapan, and Marty Hroncich and his wife, Cathy of Manalapan; and many nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private services will be held with the immediate family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Giovanni’s name to CHOP Foundation, 3401 Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
