Obituary of Maryann Cullen

Maryann Cullen, 79, of Freehold passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Hackensack Meridian Health Subacute Rehabilitation, Wall.  Maryann was born in Brooklyn, NY and was raised and had lived in Farmingdale.  She moved to Freehold in 1963 to raise her family.  Maryann was a benefits administrator for the Manalapan/Englishtown School District where she was dearly loved and admired for her dedication and kindness to all.  She also worked at the Freehold Borough Public Library until her retirement.  She was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner, office volunteer, CCD teacher, and member of the Alter  Rosary Society at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Freehold.  

Maryann was predeceased by her parents John and Mary Kruse and her husband, James Cullen.  She is survived by her two cherished sons, John Cullen and his wife, Susan of Freehold Township and Chris Cullen and his wife, Missy of Howell; four cherished grandchildren, Thomas Cullen, Amanda Cullen, Nicholas Cullen, and Mackenzie Cullen; her beloved sisters, Patricia LaCoste of Lake Como and Stephanie Floberg of Norway; a dear aunt, June Hankel of Farmingdale; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.  Also,  her two sister in laws, Midge Neiberlien  and Dawn Cullen.

Maryann loved spending time with her family and friends at her beach house in Manasquan ,NJ.  She enjoyed long walks, reading, cooking, playing cards, and being with her grandchildren.  She loved holidays and birthday parties.  She volunteered  much of her time at St Rose of Lima Church and school in Freehold where she was honored a Discipleship Award. Wherever Maryann went,  she had a way of making everyone feel special and important.  Maryann will always be loved , never forgotten,  and we will miss her everyday.  She will be in our hearts forever!

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, relatives and friends are invited to attend her pass through visitation at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 from 10:15 to 10:45 AM. A private funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to participate via Webcast through the Funeral Home website. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.  For those who desire, memorial contributions can be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold, NJ 07728. A memorial mass to honor Maryann will be held at a later date.
