Obituary of Arlene Driscoll

Arlene Driscoll Lashine, 81, of Manalapan passed away at Riverview Medical Center on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. She was born and raised in Staten Island, moved to Freehold in 1969, and settled in Manalapan in 1976. Arlene was a Florist for Nickel The Florist in Staten Island for many years before her retirement over 35 years ago. She was a strong, independent woman, and the song “My Way” truly describes her. Arlene was generous and caring in nature, always putting others before herself. She always looked forward never back, overcoming every challenge thrown her way. Above all, she was passionate about putting her family first and having unique connections with each of her grandchildren. She was a bolt of lightning and could make anyone she met feel special. Arlene used to enjoy being able to dance, bowl, play bingo, go to Atlantic City, and could often be found shopping, especially on QVC.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Driscoll; parents, Herman and Mary Spera; sisters, Dolly Kinsella and Dolores Smith; and brother, Robert Alegra. Arlene is survived by her beloved partner of 45 years, Allen Lashine; children, Mary Colonna of Freehold, Edward J. Driscoll and his wife, Julie of Loveland, OH, and Linda Caballero and her husband, John of Manalapan; grandchildren, Kimberly, Dominick, Kevin, Lauren, Ashley, Molly, Grace, Carlie, Johnny, Tommy, and Jake; great grandchildren, Hunter, Paisley, and Giavanna; step great grandchild, Meilani; brother, Herman Spera, Jr.; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Gabriel, 100 North Main Street, Marlboro, on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Interment will follow in St. Rose Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold.
