Obituary of Marie Asunta Scala

Marie Asunta Scala, 90, of Colts Neck passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.  Marie was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and settled in Colts Neck  in 2001.   She enjoyed playing the slots in Atlantic City, and trips to Aruba and the Bahamas.  Marie was a beautiful woman with black hair and long burgundy nails.  She could often be found listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra.  Everything paled in comparison to her love for her husband, daughters and grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Concetta Basile; and her husband, Joseph Francis Scala in 2017.  She is survived by three daughters, Carolann Granese and her husband, Victor of Toms River, Maria Emrich and her husband, Jim of Cream Ridge, and Rachel Scala of Staten Island; and five grandchildren, Joseph, Kerri, Timmy, Dominick and Alexandra.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, One Phalanx Road, Colts Neck.  Interment will follow in Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown.  For those who desire, memorial contributions in Marie’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
