Obituary of Frank L. Farrar

Frank L. Farrar, Jr., 81, of Jackson passed peacefully on Saturday, February 29, 2020. He was raised in Union and had lived in Elizabeth and Watchung before retiring and taking up residence in Jackson in 2007.  Frank graduated from Oratory Prep. in Summit and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Fordham University in the Bronx. Frank was a proud United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Era, as a heavy weapons expert and instructor. He was the owner of Homecraft Manufacturing Company based in Newark, his family-owned woodworking business since 1945.  A lifetime member of the Elks in both Union and Brick for a total of 60 years, and a former member of the Four Seasons at South Knolls Men’s Club.  Frank was also a parishioner of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Jackson.  In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, bocce, and bowling.  Most of all, Frank treasured time spent with his family. 

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Farrar of Jackson; daughters, Susan Peterson and her husband, Louis of Stewartsville and Jill Harvis and her husband, John-David of Flemington; son, Brian Farrar and his wife, Sandra of Edison; grandchildren, Katie Farrar of Edison and Hailey Harvis of Flemington; and many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10:00 AM for the procession to his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 935 Bennetts Mills Road, Jackson.
