Obituary of Edna M. Donahue

Edna M. Donahue, 86, of Howell passed away at home on November 20, 2019. She was born and raised in Jersey City and lived in Carteret, before she settled in Howell in 1963. Edna was an Executive Secretary for Chesterfield Garden Freehold Apartments for many years. She was a life member and President of the Freewood Acres Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Edna was a former member of the Howell Township Board of Fire Commissioners, District 5 and the Howell Township Republican Club. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mom and grandma.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald A. Donahue Sr. in 2008; and her brother Richard Reczka. Edna is survived by her six sons, Donald Donahue, Jr. and his wife, Evelyn of Washington DC, James Donahue of Georgetown, TX, John “Jack” Donahue and his wife, Kathy of Goose Creek, SC, Robert Donahue and his wife, Veronica of Howell, William Donahue and his wife, Mary of Howell, and Michael Donahue and his wife, Yolanda of Old Bridge; 13 grandchildren, Donald III, Stephanie, Joselyn, Matthew, John Jr., Timothy, Kaitlin, Jessica, Robert Jr., Theresa, William Jr., James, and Madison; and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 9:30 AM Funeral Mass on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 U.S. 9, Howell Township. Interment will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edna’s name may be made to Freewood Acres Fire Company, 17 East 5th St, Howell Township.
