Obituary of Marliese B. Neiheiser

Marliese B. Neiheiser, 89, of Freehold passed away at home on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. She was born in Stolberg, Germany, lived through World War II, and in 1952, immigrated to the United States at the age of 22.  She lived several years with relatives in Port Washington, NY, learning English and living out her love of fashion as a seamstress for Bonwit-Teller in Manhattan. She met her husband-to-be, Ernest, through mutual friends, married and moved to Perth Amboy, NJ.  In 1969, they settled in Freehold, where she raised her family and made lifelong friends.  Marliese was a great cook and an even better baker, making everyone happy who came to her kitchen.  She loved to explore the United States and Europe, sharing her spirit of adventure with her family.   Her greatest joy, however, was making a loving home for them that continued with her five grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Ernest Neiheiser; and sister, Annemie Beissel. Marliese is survived by her children, Paul Neiheiser and his wife, Bernadette, of Monmouth Junction, NJ and Linda Bastry and her husband Frank, of Freehold; and grandchildren Sarah, Kayla, Erica, Julia, and Markus.

Memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with her funeral service to follow. Interment will be private. For those who desire, memorial donations in Marliese’s name may be made to the Children’s Home Society of New Jersey, Development Department, 635 South Clinton Avenue, Trenton NJ 08611.
