Obituary of Richard Gibson

Richard H. "Dickie" Gibson, Jr., 65, of Howell Township died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Dickie was born in Neptune and was a lifelong resident of Howell Township. He was employed by Stavola Asphalt and Contracting Company for over 25 years, retiring as Maintenance Foreman for the company's asphalt plants in 1997. An avid hunter, he was also a well-known local farmer. Dickie was a life member and ex-Chief of the Adelphia Fire Company, and the designated driver of the Company's antique 1942/43 Ford fire truck. Dickie was predeceased by two brothers, Robert M. Gibson, Sr. and Glenn H. Gibson. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cynthia "Cindy" Robinson Gibson; two sons, Richard H. Gibson, III of Howell and Randall E. Gibson of Myrtle Beach, SC; two daughters, Carolyn J. Wingate of Farmingdale and Janine M. Smith of Howell; one brother, Theodore Gibson of Monroe Township; four grandchildren, Corrinne J. Bakker, Madison N. Gibson, David L. Wingate and Reaghan M. Smith. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 2:00 to 6 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at 11:00 AM on Monday November 5, 2012 at the funeral home, with Rev. William Frederickson officiating. Interment will follow at Adelphia Cemetery.
