Mavis Nauialis-Guarasi

Obituary of Mavis Nauialis-Guarasi

Mavis Nauialis-Guarasi, 93, of Freehold Township passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.  She was born in Barry, Wales and was raised in London, surviving World War II.  Following the war, in 1946, Mavis moved to the United States with her first husband, an Army Air Corp serviceman.  She worked as a dental assistant for Edwyn Smith D.D.S for over 40 years.

At a fateful Labor Day party at Surrey Downs, Mavis met her husband, Frank Guarasi, who won over her heart with what they would later describe as a lousy cupcake.  Together they enjoyed spending time with all of their children and grandchildren.  Mavis enjoyed playing Rummikub and cards with her friends.  She was a kind-hearted person with great wit and insight who was loved by many. Mavis was a great wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Mavis was predeceased by her first husband, Anthony Nauialis.  She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Frank Guarasi of Freehold Township; children, Dianne Nauialis of Hemet, CA and Mark Nialis and his former spouse, Ellen Nialis of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren, Dana Nialis-Saulson and her husband, Benjamin of Los Angeles, CA and Lisa Nialis of Colorado; stepchildren, Robert Guarasi and his wife, Madhu of Pennsylvania, Maria Delaney and her husband, Patrick of Freehold Township, and Michael Guarasi and his former spouse, Karen of Jackson; step grandchildren, Gianna Guarasi, Arman Guarasi, Chelsea Delaney, Gabrielle Delaney, Samantha Delany, Andrew Guarasi, and Nicholas Guarasi; and her great friends.
