Obituary of Joseph E. Meehan

Joseph E. Meehan, 79, of Freehold Township passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 18, 2019 in the home that he built, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brooklyn and settled in Freehold Township in 1969. Joseph, or “Pappa Joe” as he was known as in the neighborhood, worked as an operating engineer superintendent for Local #15 in all five boros for 40 years. He was a true patriot and proudly served active duty in the Untied States Army Reserves. Joseph enjoyed going out to dinner and dancing with his wife. He loved to fish, spend time in Atlanic City, and listen to Elvis. 

 

Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Antionette in 2003 and brothers, John Meehan and Martin Meehan. He is survived by his children, Deborah Ann Bryan and her husband, William of Freehold Township, JoAnn DiNonno and her husband, Anthony of Freehold Township; and son, Keith Meehan and his wife, Jennifer of Howell; six grandchildren, Ashley Bryan, Julia DiNonno, Keith Meehan, Jr., Luke DiNonno, Christopher Meehan, and Madeline Meehan; sister, Elaine Hayward of Cincinnati, Ohio; special neices, Carolyn McCartney, Domenica Meehan, and their families; and many other neices and nephews.

 

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 9:00 to 11:30 AM with his funeral service to follow at 11:30 AM.
