Obituary of Robert Henry DeWitt, Jr.

Robert Henry DeWitt, Jr., 79, of Howell passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.  He was born in Neptune and had lived in Wall Township and Howell Township for many years.  Robert (“Bob”) worked as a meter shop foreman for New Jersey Natural Gas until his retirement. 

Robert was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Fay DeWitt, and daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth DeWitt. He is survived by his daughter, Debra Fay DeWitt of Howell; son, Robert Ned DeWitt and his wife, Jennifer Katharine of Hackettstown; grandchildren, Barbara Gallman, Erica Horn, and James Horn and great granddaughter, Maisie Elizabeth.

He was an avid gardener, a die-hard dirt track racing fan, a skilled wood craftsman, and a nature enthusiast. He leaves drawers of “chips” (digital camera cards) of his bald eagle photography from the Manasquan Reservoir, where he often walked, fished, and escaped.
