Obituary of Robert J. Bianchino

Robert J. Bianchino, 71, of Jackson passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 15, 2019 at home.  Robert was born and raised in Brooklyn and had lived in Staten Island before moving to Marlboro, NJ in 1983 to raise his family.  In 2004, Robert moved to the Four Seasons, Metedeconk, also fondly referred to as “Camp Metedeconk” or the “Home”, but he was always a Brooklyn boy at heart.

How does one describe Robert?... Outgoing, a great sense of humor, politically conservative, and having “only child syndrome”, are just a few.  He was a good and faithful friend and neighbor who enjoyed sitting out front watching the world go by.

Friends and Family called him Robert, Bob, and Bobby, Bison and Cotterman; as long as no one called him late for dinner!  Robert was comfortable on a baseball field, playing golf with his buddies, shooting pool in the clubhouse, enjoying a game with his “Bocce Boyz”, or playing Hearts on Tuesday night.

Moondoggie, yet another one of his many nicknames, was a fan of the Jersey Shore and could be found boogie boarding, fishing, or walking up and down the beach searching for hidden treasures with his metal detector.  He was a handyman and could fix anything and everything.  Robert loved gadgets and anything that had to do with technology.

His band, Five Days After, showcased his love for music and especially playing the drums.  He could often be heard playing his beloved drums in his house.  Bob’s grandson, Steven, inherited his passion for playing drums.

Bob and Tina were always on the dance floor.  From his sons’ weddings, to the parties at Metedeconk, everyone who knew him, will remember Bob standing on a ballroom chair leading the group in the singing/dancing of the “YMCA” and performing in club events.

Bob loved traveling with family and friends, especially cruising and his first cruise which was on a converted tanker. From Horseback riding at the Rocking Horse Ranch, to countless vacations in Mexico and the Caribbean, he could be found flow riding on the Oasis of the Seas to zip lining through the tree tops of Xcaret, Mexico.

The joy of his life was his loving wife, children, and especially his grandchildren, who loved their “Papa Bob”.  Robert lived a full and well lived life and will be missed by his family and so many friends and neighbors, too numerous to name.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Christina; sons, Chris Bianchino and his wife, Rose, of Hillsborough, NJ and Brian Bianchino and his wife, Janine, of Jackson, NJ; four grandchildren, Steven, Hailey, Kyle, and Hannah; and a brother-in-law, Bobby Szymkiewicz.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM Funeral Service at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.  Interment will be private.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
