Obituary of Josephine DaPonte

Josephine DaPonte, 88, of Freehold Township passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Allaire Rehab & Nursing, Freehold Township.  She was born and raised in Brooklyn and had lived in Staten Island until settling in Freehold Township in 1995. Josephine was an active member of the Silvermead community, always looking forward to bingo and dances.  She loved to shop and most importantly, spend time with her family. 

Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Arthur DaPonte in 2008 and her sister, Vitina Ippolito in 1978.  She is survived by her three daughters, Tina Scafuri and her husband, James of Manalapan, Rosemarie Villanueva and her husband, Daniel of Long Island, and Lorraine LaDolce of Brooklyn; six grandchildren, James Scafuri, Jr., Lauren McDermott and her husband, Patrick, Anthony Scafuri, Daniel Villanueva, Jr., Joseph LaDolce, and Nicholas LaDolce; six grandchildren, Gianna, Piera, Natalia, Chase, Christopher, and Sophia.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 9:00 AM for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Staten Island.  For information, directions, or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
