Obituary of Frank Conforti

Frank Conforti, 101, of Jackson passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at home.  He was born in New York City and had lived in the Bronx before settling in Jackson in 1994. Alongside his wife, Laura, Frank owned and operated the family business, Frank Mittermeier Inc., selling wood carving tools and gunsmith supplies for over 30 years until their retirement in 1993.  Prior to the family business, he worked as a draftsman in the Bronx for American Banknote and was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II. In his younger years, Frank also helped his mother run her candy shop in Throggs Neck. Whether it was sweeping the floors or making a deal with vendors, Frank was there to lend a hand. He was a diehard Yankee fan and even had the pleasure of meeting Babe Ruth and Joe DiMaggio.  In his retirement, Frank loved to travel, especially on cruises, with his wife. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing at Winding Ways, and drawing cartoons.

Frank was predeceased by his wife, Laura Conforti in 2017, son-in-law, Orin Meybohn, and brothers, Edward and Alfred Conforti.  His is survived by his daughters, Anne Marie Meybohn of Farmingdale and Grace LaForge and her husband, Larry of Green Brook; grandchildren, Orin Meybohn, Jr. of Jackson, Laura Blustein of Farmingdale, Frank Meybohn of Clifton, Allison Reed and her husband, Foster of Freehold, and Geoffrey LaForge and his wife, Kristen of Rahway; and great grandchildren, Noah and Cassie.
