Obituary of David S. Golom

David S. Golom, 94, of Howell passed away at home on Sunday, May 27, 2018.  David was born in New York City and had lived in Freehold before moving to Howell in 1946.  He served his county honorably during World War II in the U.S. Army.  David owned and operated Joseph Golom & Sons Plumbing & Heating from 1945 to 1970.  He retired as the Plumbing Inspector for Howell Twp. in 1999 after thirty years of service.  In retirement, David was a part-time Plumbing Inspector for Manalapan Twp.  He was a former Board Member of the Plumbing Inspectors Association of New Jersey.  David was a member of the Adelphia Fire Company for the past sixty-five years.  He was also a member of the V.F.W., Post 9691 and a Past Commander of the American Legion, Post 178.  David was an avid fisherman and was a Charter Boat Captain operating the Vicky-May and the Flying Finn out of the Manasquan Inlet.  A parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, Freehold Twp., David was a devout Catholic and a member of the Howell Chapter of Deborah. 

David was predeceased by his wife, Mary; a great grandson, Branson; a sister, Edith Harms; and a brother, Herbert Golom.  He is survived by his children, David J. Golom and his wife, Sharon of Toms River, Richard Golom and his wife, Lauree of Bricktown, Kevin Golom of Howell, and Victoria Golom-Davison and her husband, John of Howell; two grandchildren, Dawn Marie Snyder and Dillion J. Golom; two great grandchildren, Madison Snyder and Justin Snyder; and a sister-in-law, Ingrid Golom of Howell; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, June 1, 2018 from   2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Freehold.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Adelphia Fire Company, PO Box 125, Adelphia, NJ 07710.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
