Stanley “Pete” W. Orr, 80, of Manalapan passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2018. He was born in Neptune and lived all his life on the farmland in Manalapan. Pete farmed with his father and uncle until the farm was sold. He then worked as a truck mechanic at Orr Motors and Freehold Cartage until he retired in 1973 due to illness.
Pete was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Freehold and a life trustee. He was a lifelong member of the Millhurst Fire Company and served several terms as chief as well as a trustee. He also served on the JINS (Juveniles In Need Of Services) committee for Manalapan Township.
Pete is survived by his wife of 58 years, Isabella Heulitt Orr of Manalapan; daughter, Sharon J. Orr of South Barrington, Illinois; son, Thomas S. Orr and his wife, Joann of Manalapan; grandchildren, Thomas and his fiancé, Larissa, Matthew, Brandon, Michael, and John; sister, Lois Grant; brother-in-law, Leslie M. Heulitt; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held at the First Baptist Church of Freehold, 81 West Main Street, Freehold Township on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with his memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pete’s name may be made to the MS Society NJ Chapter, 1480 US Highway 9, Suite 301, Woodbridge NJ 07095; Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad, 7 Sanford Street, Manalapan NJ 07726; or the First Baptist Church of Freehold.
