Obituary of Patricia DeMasi

Patricia Mary DeMasi, 77, of Howell Twp. passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Patricia was born and raised in Brooklyn and had lived in the Prince's Bay section of Staten Island before settling to Howell Twp. in 1963. Along with her late husband, Maurice and her family, they owned and operated the Fort Plains Horse Farm Inc., a riding academy which brought many students to horse shows and which her children are running today to continue her legacy. Later, Patricia trained Thoroughbred Horses that raced at Monmouth Park, Philadelphia Park, Penn National and Delaware Race Track. Prior to that, with her husband, she owned a horse farm on Staten Island. Patricia was a professional horseback rider and rode Hunter Seat, as a child, in Madison Square Garden. She had a passion for ballet and was a ballet dancer in her youth. Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Maurice in 1976. She is survived by her daughter, Maureen P. DeMasi of Bradley Beach; a son, John M. DeMasi of Howell Twp.; a grandson, Christopher Nicholas DeMasi; a brother, Joseph "Jack" Battaglia of Florida; a sister, Barbara Frascati of Hoboken; four nieces; and two nephews. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 8:30 AM for the procession to the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route #9 North, Howell for her 9:30 AM Funeral Mass.
