Obituary of Paul F. Scano

Paul F. Scano, 68, was born on October 3, 1949. He was originally a Staten Island resident who relocated to Monmouth County, New Jersey in 1992. Paul passed away on Dec 5, 2017 at the home of his former wife and dear friend, Linda Scano in Howell. He graduated from Xavarian High School and pursued higher education by earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from Fordham University and later continued on to obtain his law degree.

He successfully began practicing law in the New York Courts in 1976 and was admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court in 1980. Paul was a member of the Richmond County Bar Association. He also became a partner in the firm of Russo, Fusco, Scano, and Scamardella in 1979. Paul then successfully opened a private practice where he remained until his retirement in January of 2017. Paul was an accomplished attorney in all levels of civil litigation, but he found his niche in personal injury and matrimonial law. Many young lawyers looked up to him as a mentor and admired his drive and expertise in the practice of law.

He was predeceased by his parents, Giacomo and Giovanna Scano. Paul is survived by his two older brothers, Guido and Valerio along with his five children and their spouses, Mathew Scano and his wife, Elizabeth of Staten Island, NY and their two daughters, Guilianna and Gabriella; Jonathan Scano and his wife, Megan of Jackson, and their daughter Jolene; Susan Marano and her husband, Paul of Colts Neck and their son, Paul Jr.; Matthew Smith of Howell; and his youngest daughter, Elissa Scano of Howell.

He lived a sober life for over 25 years where he helped many people in recovery. He spent his free time watching the Yankees, reading books on the presidents, going golfing, and loving his children and grandchildren.

Paul’s biggest accomplishment in life was that he taught his children that the most important thing is to love and be loved. He always stressed the importance of togetherness and family, and to find joy in hard times which is something all of his kids will take with them.
