Obituary of Nora Dorney

Nora Dorney, 97, of Freehold Twp. formerly of Manalapan Twp. passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Geraldine L. Thompson Care Center, Allenwood, NJ. Mrs. Dorney was born in Corlough, County Cavan, Ireland; came to the U.S. in 1929 settling in the Bronx. She moved to Brooklyn in 1940 and to Manalapan in 2006 and most recently to Freehold Twp. She was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Help of Christians and their Rosary Society. Mrs. Dorney was a sales associate at A&S, Brooklyn, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 1983; a daughter, Monica; two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by two sons, Kevin Dorney and his wife, Helyn, of Brooklyn, NY, and John Dorney and his wife, Mary Beth, of Freehold Twp.; 5 grandsons, Kevin, Jr., Jon-Paul, Jed, Keith and Michael and 9 great grandchildren. Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Twp. on Monday, May 23, 2011, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Twp. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Nora may be made to either the VITAS Hospice Care, 1 Meridian Road, Eatontown, NJ 07924 or to the Geraldine L. Thompson Care Center, P. O.
