Obituary of Edward Koos
Edward M. Koos, 94, of Jobstown passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Virtua Memorial Hospital, Mount Holly. Mr. Koos was born in Newark and had lived in Berkley Heights, Brielle and Millstone Twp., before moving here in 2003. During the 1940s, along with his father and uncles, he was an owner of Koos Brothers Furniture, Rahway. He then became a partner and vice president of Marco Chemical, Linden from where he retired in 1965. He also owned the Bay Point Harbor Yacht Sales Company during the 80s and early 90s. He was a graduate of Newark Academy High School and Princeton University, Class of 1938. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone. He was a 32rd degree mason of the Ocean Lodge # 89, F & AM. He was a past member of the Manasquan River Golf Club, and the Manasquan River Yacht Club. An avid fishermen and boater, he also belonged to the Manasquan River Marlin and Tuna Club.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty in 1953 and a grandson, Walter Vogel in 1983. A loving and caring father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Edward and Susan Koos of Toms River; and Bob and Noreen Koos of Wall Twp.; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Stewart Fenick of Jobstown; ten adoring grandchildren; and nine loving great grandchildren.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton- Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 2-4 pm. Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral services at the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, 211 Millstone Road, Perrineville on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Gregory Pike officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Koos, may be made to the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, 211 Millstone Road, Perrineville, NJ 08535 and would be appreciated.
